My Favorite Things
I have a number of passions in my life and I feel like I have done a pretty darn good job of making sure that I dedicate time and energy into each area of my life. Taking care of my body is a passion and is super important to me. I feel at my best when I am using products that support me, eating foods that my body feels nourished by, that I am getting adequate exercise, and that I am in tune with my sleep needs.
For me, the no-brainer is the exercise. I can easily motivate myself out the door for a run or to set up a circuit with my equipment. Even when I have less energy, I know how great I am going to feel after and that gives me more motivation to follow through. Exercise can look different for everyone, so I think it’s about exploring different avenues and doing what nurtures you the most. My hands-down favorite piece of equipment is the TRX. It is so versatile! It is for all fitness levels and creates a full-body workout.
When it comes to nutrition, I have learned what foods best fuel my body. That doesn’t mean that I restrict certain foods. It just means that I fill my tank with premium gas most of the time and regular sometimes. You have to learn what works best for you. I think about focusing on how the food will make me feel. I can not say enough about Arbonne’s nutrition line. I drink a shake every morning and it is the most solid way I can start my day. It is totally satisfying, delicious, and physically my body feels balanced. I do their detox a couple times a year and I have never felt better.
There are so many lines of hair and skin products and I tend to use lines that are purer. I see it as nutrition for the skin and scalp. I remember a couple of years ago, a client of mine gave me a sample set of Arbonne’s skincare line. At the time I was very simple and quick about my face, I washed it and put face lotion on and done. Arbonne is a 5 step process but I decided to give it a go. For 2 weeks I followed the steps, which by the way takes less than a minute, and people kept commenting on how great my skin looked. I too noticed fewer signs of age and a new glow. More of a glow? Perfect, I’m in and I haven’t looked back. For my hair, I have been using Aveda hair and scalp products for years. I am all about the smell and the experience it gives me. Even down to their paddle brush, I have a mini spa experience every time I brush my hair. It is totally worth it to go into an Aveda Salon just to smell all of their products!
When it comes to getting enough zzz’s, I admit some nights are harder than others to be in bed by curfew. I try to shut down screens ahead of bedtime and use meditation and breathwork to support solid sleep. I also have a “no stress in the bedroom” policy. If I am uneasy, I simply leave the stress outside my bedroom door knowing I can pick it back up in the morning, if I really want to. I also use meditation apps for sleep once in awhile like Calm or Breathe.
Take a few minutes to focus on the structure you have when it comes to the health of your physical body. Is there anything that you need to tweak?
